Two Volunteers Needed for the WVC Conference Leave Committee

Starting at the end of this semester, there will be two faculty vacancies on the WVC Conference Leave Committee. Both Bickie Choy and Michelle Francis will be stepping down from the committee. We thank them for their outstanding and valuable service and now it is time to recruit others to fill those spots.  Please consider this opportunity as one of your institutional responsibilities for next year.  

The District sets aside $250,000 per academic year for the purpose of supporting faculty (both full-time and associates) to attend conferences and engage in professional activities.  Each campus has a Conference Leave Committee that is tasked with efficiently and fairly reviewing faculty conference requests.  Even with COVID, many faculty took advantage of conference funds and we hope with the reopening there will be a large uptick in demand for conferences.

Please submit a brief statement of interest by May 16th, indicating why you would like to be on this committee. Send your statement to president@wvmft.org.

WVMFT will select one faculty member and the WVC Academic Senate will select another representative.
